Mead & Hunt renovated and expanded the terminal at Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport (RKS) in Rock Springs, Wyoming, creating a 31,000-square-foot facility designed to accommodate continued passenger growth. The $15.2 million project renovated the existing 15,900-square-foot terminal and added 15,400 square feet of new space.
The expansion added a new ticketing area, an expanded TSA security checkpoint, a larger two-gate passenger holding room, and an expanded baggage claim area and new administration offices. Improvements also included relocating rental car parking and reorganizing the aircraft apron to accommodate a boarding bridge at Gate 1.
Mead & Hunt provided architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, interior design, and telecommunications. The modernized terminal and supporting infrastructure have improved airport capacity and created a more efficient passenger journey from ticketing through boarding and baggage claim.
