Inclusion & Belonging
Our Differences Make Us Stronger
What does an inclusive company culture mean to Mead & Hunt? From enhancing the sense of belonging within our company, to considering the diverse backgrounds of people that engage with our projects and engaging in meaningful community outreach, at Mead & Hunt it starts and ends with putting people first.
Our People
Creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered leads to employees bringing their authentic selves to work and participating fully. We recognize that people of all different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities have a wide range of needs to be able to thrive at work. That’s why we value fostering psychological safety on our teams and throughout our culture. Our Employee Experience Team creates opportunities for employees to connect and stay engaged. Our Employee Resource and Young Professionals Groups are integral to creating even more opportunities for inclusion.
Employee Resource Groups
The Employee Resource Group (ERG) exists to enhance the employee experience and sense of belonging at Mead & Hunt, with an emphasis on employees from underrepresented groups in the AEC industry. This is done by creating opportunities where employees can connect, learn from, and support each other along their career journey in a safe space.
All employees are welcome to join the ERG or participate in its events. The ERG is composed of five interest groups open to all employees. Communication and collaboration amongst interest groups is encouraged.
- Disabilities and Caregiving Interest Group
- Ethnic Minorities Interest Group
- LGBTQIA+ Interest Group
- Veterans-Military Interest Group
- Women Interest Group
Young Professionals Group
The Young Professionals Group connects employees under the age of 40 to provide a sense of community and support as they navigate the early phase of their careers. The group is led by young professionals in our firm and holds virtual hangouts discussing topics related to professional development, navigating the industry, and learning about different service markets and career paths.
Our Communities
Our industry and projects need to reflect the diverse communities in which we work and live. Our unique perspectives shape our interactions with our clients and communities, allowing us to create projects that value diverse needs.
We are committed to making the AEC industry a place where individuals of all backgrounds can thrive and contribute to the projects that invest in our communities. Measures we have taken include promoting a collaborative approach to inclusive design best practices through discussions at industry conferences and collaborating with organizations that support STEM outreach and underrepresented groups in the industry.
