Hector International Airport (FAR) needed a terminal expansion that would support airport growth. Mead & Hunt provided the design for this necessary project.
The phased project includes a four-gate, 81,000-square-feet addition and a five-gate, 112,175-square-feet existing building renovation. There will be nine gates total upon completion. The project includes reconfiguring interior spaces, updating/replacing finishes and updating building systems in the existing terminal, and construction of the terminal expansion.
Crucially, the airport needs to maintain the operation of five gates at all times throughout construction. The existing security checkpoint will be relocated to maintain operation during airport public hours, and our team will work with a TSA-approved contractor to coordinate the relocation once the new space is ready. Phasing was developed with the intent of minimizing disruptions to existing operations and keeping all five gates open throughout construction.
