The May edition of TechCONNECT just wrapped up and the presentations were exceptional. Each quarter, Mead & Hunt develops custom learning sessions specifically for our technical staff. These sessions compliment and increase their knowledge base and provide big picture concepts for career development.
Professional growth
Mead & Hunt’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging was highlighted in the Day 1 keynote session, “Improve Work Relationships & Company Culture by Conquering Hidden Bias” by Deborah Biddle. The session explored unconscious bias and its impact on business environments and work relationships. Participants learned how to further strengthen their workplace by building cross-cultural relationships. Biddle is a Certified Diversity Professional, coach, workshop presenter, educator, and experienced business leader. She strengthens organizations by helping individuals and leaders at all levels to understand how to move toward a more inclusive environment.
Teamwork and communication are key to success in any organization—but to have truly outstanding working relationships, there needs to be responsibility and ownership at every level. “Lead an Accountable Team” was the keynote on day 2 of TechCONNECT. As a Certified Coach, Leadership Expert, and founder of Intentionaleaders, LLC., Cyndi Wentland led a power hour session on creating a culture of accountability with clear expectations that fosters ownership and drives accountability. Wentland is a return keynote presenter, and she works with Mead & Hunt on leadership development initiatives.
Day 3 of TechCONNECT featured a workshop for a deep dive into personal growth led by Desi Creswell. Her session, “Your Best Year Yet: Goal Setting for Creatives” helped participants develop a process and framework to set aside time to intentionally invest in their personal goals and their career growth at Mead & Hunt. During the workshop, she helped participants through the process of defining goals and developing a plan to realize them. Creswell is a Certified Business & Life Coach specializing in the architecture and interior design industry.
Technical excellence
In addition to the keynote sessions, TechCONNECT included many concurrent software sessions. Alongside our own technical professionals, Mead & Hunt offered sessions by these industry learning partners.
Sash Kazeminejad is a registered Architect as well as a Customer Success Manager with Ideates Software. His session “Work Smarter, Not Harder using IdeateApps for Revit” was very popular. Revit is a remarkable modeling and documentation tool, but Sash demonstrated some of the lesser utilized sheets and view tools to make tedious workflows efficient and brilliant.
The “Autodesk Vehicle Tracking” session was an introduction to the module that can be added to Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Architecture software. The presenter, Leo Lavayen, is an Applications Expert with IMAGINiT Technologies. He is responsible for supporting, training and implementing software for survey and civil engineering professionals. The attendees said the information on user interface and creating and editing paths with options provided during the session was “invaluable.”
The next three-day TechCONNECT is August with all new content. The sessions we choose spotlight our strong commitment to career growth and professional excellence, as well as our people-first values as a firm.
