This soap production facility handled large volumes of raw materials derived from coconut oil and palm oil. As a result, its effluent was high in fats, oils, and grease (FOG). To meet permit requirements, the facility had put a temporary wastewater pretreatment system in place, and it needed a permanent, reliable system for long-term use. As a key member of the design-build partnership that delivered the permanent system, we provided design, procurement, and construction-related services. Sized to handle up to 529,000 gallons per day (gpd), the permanent pretreatment system employs a grease separator, a dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit, and increased equalization. Our system integration team developed the custom-designed control system for seamless operation. The DAF pretreatment system helps the facility meet its permit limits for FOG and total suspended solids (TSS). We provided a performance guarantee for DAF effluent to be within the required discharge permit limits.
