Intersection Sign & Pavement Marking Management

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) adopted an Intersection Safety Improvement Initiative to target the top 2,200 intersections with the highest crash frequencies throughout the state. Mead & Hunt worked in conjunction with 3M Traffic Safety Systems to manage the GIS data on this sign and pavement marking intersection inventory. This inventory includes over 2,200 intersections, 15,000 signs and 30,000 pavement markings throughout South Carolina. We evaluated each site to verify characteristics at these intersections and analyze what is needed to meet compliance standards.
