The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Terminal 1 Redevelopment Program is comprised of two inter-connected and separate design-build projects that aim to achieve LEED v4 Gold, net-zero energy ready and net-zero waste.
Mead & Hunt (formerly Ambient Energy) was the sustainability leader for both projects to oversee all aspects of sustainable design during the design phase and to perform LEED commissioning services from design through construction. The team provided energy and sustainability peer review of all the design-build team deliverables including drawings and specifications and performed energy modeling to verify and re-establish energy utilization goals.
The Boarding Area B project exceeded the original LEED goal, achieving LEED v4 Platinum certification and additionally achieved WELL Building Standard Platinum level. Terminal 1 Center achieved Fitwel and is on track to achieve LEEDv4 Gold or Platinum.
