San Diego International Airport (SAN), a large hub airport surrounded by residential, commercial and retail development, needed to address significant citizen noise concerns at distances far exceeding the CNEL 65 noise contour. Mead & Hunt is preparing a noise study supporting an ongoing residential sound attenuation program that may require updating in the future. The project is complicated by the fact that the Airport is controversial due to its NextGen approach and departure procedures as part of the SOCAL Metroplex implementation. Mead & Hunt is incorporating extensive community engagement and involvement to mitigate concerns.
