Situated within sight of the four local ski mountains, the community of Aspen and the surrounding Roaring Fork River Valley have long dealt with environmental issues and sustainability and the premier mountain-resort airport has faced unique environmental and noise challenges. Our environmental engineers and planners worked with the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) to conduct environmental and wildlife hazard assessments, complete sustainability and master plans and establish environmental management and monitoring plans.
Our experienced public information specialists facilitated stakeholder meetings and addressed community concerns to gain public input and support for needed improvements. We completed master plan updates, and our environmental specialists assessed a proposed runway extension, with our wildlife biologists completing a wildlife hazard management plan. We implemented an ongoing noise monitoring program that included a fly-quiet program. Our work to develop and implement a sustainability program designed to encompass the airport’s initiatives as the programs grow will help Aspen-Pitkin County Airport evolve in the future.
