S-48 (Columbia Avenue) Corridor Improvements

Mead & Hunt is providing engineering, environmental, survey, and management services on a 2.6-mile stretch of Columbia Avenue connecting US-76 to I-26. Our environmental team prepared an Environmental Assessment consisting of 35 potential alternative alignments and three alternative interchange concepts. We are widening the existing two-lane roadway with three- and five-lane sections. This project is highly sensitive due to historic architecture within the town and potential community impacts. Due to the new proposed developments along the corridor, we placed a premium on public involvement.
