Milwaukee County Courthouse Building Automation System Renovation

The Milwaukee County Courthouse Complex is home to a variety of county operations, and it is imperative that these systems remain functional at all times. The outdated systems were frequently failing or operating inefficiently. Mead & Hunt designed a replacement for the existing building automation systems in the courthouse complex, which consists of five buildings comprising more than 1.9 million square feet.

This project replaced the existing control equipment for HVAC, fire alarm, and security systems in all buildings. Prior to the upgrade, three systems were tied together into a centrally-controlled master system, which meant that a communication failure or system malfunction on any of the three systems caused the entire system to fail. This project created a distributed control system to allow the systems to operate independently of one another.
