Jet Aviation constructed a new Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) and hangar to further expand services and space at Scottsdale Airport, one of the busiest business aviation airports in the US. Mead & Hunt designed the new, modern 8,500-square-foot FBO and 30,000-square-foot hangar. Using a pre-engineered metal structure and tilt-up concrete cladding on the hangar, we were able to meet the long-term needs of the building while maintaining a quick erection time. In addition, the interior design team used the floor and ceiling finishes to create an intuitive wayfinding scheme through the building. The award-winning terminal includes a large lobby, a conference room, a meeting room, lounges, pilot snooze rooms, and weather and flight planning facilities.
To meet Jet Aviation’s schedule, the contractor was brought into the project early. This integrative design process allowed for early procurement of materials, which significantly reduced project cost and construction duration.
