I-85 Widening Design-Build Preliminary Design

SCDOT needed to widen 16 miles along the I-85 interstate from four to six lanes. The existing vertical alignment does not meet current interstate standards. This project serves to improve four interchanges, replace a railroad crossing and raise the S-11-131 bridge overpass. Our project team analyzed several typical sections to provide the most efficient cross section for each area. The design includes several frontage road realignments and offsets from the mainline.
