To give military families an onsite day care, the West Virginia Army National Guard constructed a child development center at their Charleston complex. We provided field surveys, oversight for the geotechnical subsurface investigation and designed the site grading. The new center can accommodate up to 100 children and includes activity rooms, a reception area, outdoor play yard and a separate area for sick children.
When designing the new access road to the facility, we re-aligned it to preserve valuable onsite parking areas. We also coordinated utility construction for the complex, including electric, telephone, fiber, water and sanitary sewer. Our knowledge of the components for sustainable road design, and experience coordinating with utility, state and federal agencies achieved a roadway that expedites safe access to a much-needed family facility.
