This hops extraction facility sought to improve batch reaction recovery yields that would result in more product without increasing the amount of raw ingredients. To increase acid recovery in the existing reaction and separation process, our team designed and constructed an extensive process modification with minimal impact on operations. This involved two new reaction vessels with temperature control loops, two new separation vessels, and a network of piping, valves, and modified-in-place tanks. With an increase in throughput and footprint, our team also designed a complete Class 1, Division 1-rated building expansion and engineered the capacity expansion of the wastewater treatment facility.
