Battle Creek Air National Guard Base was selected to beddown a Remotely Piloted Aircraft/Remote Split Operations unit. This mission needs a reliable electrical distribution system to support mission requirements. The existing overhead primary electrical distribution system was more than 70 years old and subject to damage-causing straight-line winds, and the secondary distribution system was more than 25 years old, and the low-efficiency equipment was reaching the end of its useful life. Mead & Hunt reviewed existing utility drawings and performed site electrical survey work to document existing electrical distribution layout and data. The team determined preferences for installation, relocated overhead primary and secondary feeds to underground duct banks, and provided one-line riser diagrams for both existing and new services.
