When our food processing and distribution client approached us about designing fast-tracked utility services for their campus, our team rose to the challenge. We finished the design in three months and construction in nine months.
The facility includes food receiving, cooking preparation, packaging and shipping areas for the distribution of fresh food like pizza, sandwiches, soups and sushi to their storefronts across southern California. Our team included two separated ammonia-fed chilled water systems at different design temperatures. The HVAC system design included sanitary food grade custom air handling units.
In addition to our systems work, Mead & Hunt engaged our structural engineers to design a pedestrian bridge spanning two buildings. This 140-foot bridge serves dual purposes: safe passage for workers over a working road, and structural support for ammonia piping routed from building to building.
