Congratulations to Jeff VanVoorhis for his recognition as one of BizTimes Media’s 2025 Notable Leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This honor celebrates professionals who actively advance STEM fields while leading with purpose—driving innovation, mentoring others, and making a lasting impact in their communities.

With decades of engineering and technical experience, Jeff leads Mead & Hunt’s turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) alternative project delivery method. Bringing an innovative and integrated approach to each project, he focuses on sustainability and providing holistic solutions for generating energy from waste.

What sets him apart is his ability to humanize engineering with a people-first mindset. He views each project as a technical challenge and an opportunity to empower communities, reduce environmental impact, and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

He believes that the best solutions emerge through collaboration. His leadership shapes how the team approaches project delivery, creating an environment where innovation drives lasting change. He brings out the best in his team by inspiring bold thinking, embracing challenges, and always putting people first. This culture fuels creativity and drives continuous improvement. He encourages his team to think beyond the expected to redefine success in STEM. Under his guidance, his teams solve intricate problems, nurture future leaders, and build a lasting legacy.

Beyond his technical expertise, Jeff serves as a mentor and a resource for clients, colleagues, and students. He encourages young professionals by taking them to project sites to see systems and operations firsthand. He supports clients in navigating complex sustainability goals and speaks to students about real-world applications of STEM. His active involvement in more than 15 trade associations furthers his commitment to advancing the industry, where he regularly shares insights and showcases best practices. In every interaction, he represents what’s possible when passion meets purpose.

As the renewable energy landscape evolves, Jeff remains focused on what’s next. He explores technologies, pursues project funding, and helps clients and partners envision sustainability as both a goal and a standard of excellence. His recognition as a Notable STEM Leader reflects his impressive accomplishments in the field as well as Mead & Hunt’s continued commitment to driving innovation in sustainable infrastructure solutions.
