About the Conference
The South Carolina Environmental Conference gathers environmental water and water works professionals to increase awareness of the state of South Carolina’s water industry while promoting networking educational opportunities. It is hosted jointly by the South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Association of South Carolina. This year, the conference will host a special Technical Program on “forever chemicals” known as PFAS to discuss impacts to health guidelines and the future planning of water cycle practices. Additionally, new to 2023, the conference will host a “Women in Water Life” gathering to provide deeper engagement, networking, and mentorship opportunities to women in the water industry.

Water/wastewater Project Manager Anant Sriram will present a wastewater treatment technical session addressing the question, “Is Your Utility Ready for Water Reuse?” on Tuesday, March 14 at 2:05 – 2:35 p.m. (EST) in BR-C. This presentation will provide attendees with a toolkit to self-assess their utility’s ability to implement a public access reclaimed water treatment and distribution system. Anant will include a case study and other examples of the toolkit working successfully on reclaimed water systems within medium-sized communities.
