Washington, DC Signal Timing Optimization

Our team has led two consecutive contracts for the optimization of all 1,600+ traffic signals in DC. Studies have shown substantial mobility benefits to vehicular and transit traffic, pedestrians, and bicyclists. This optimization has made DC traffic signals safer and friendlier for pedestrians, improved bus running times and overall traffic flow, and reduced emissions. In particular, pedestrian mobility and safety are enhanced through improved timings and deployment of over 900 Leading Pedestrian Intervals, Age-Friendly crossing times, and removal of pedestrian pushbutton activation requirements at over 150 locations through the end of 2021.
