WASTE-TO-ENERGY: POWERING A CLEANER WORLD
The Daily Reporter honored our engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of our waste-to-energy renewable natural gas (RNG) project with a Top Projects of 2023 award. In partnership with DTE Vantage, we provided Matsche Farms, Inc., in Birnamwood, WI, a turnkey biogas system that generates renewable natural gas (RNG) from the manure of more than 10,000 cows.
Check out the visual animation of the award-winning renewable energy project below.
This waste-to-energy system, situated on a 5,000-acre farm, collects solids from the farm, converts 550 SCFM of biogas to RNG, and compresses it into high-pressure tube trailers that transport the RNG to the nearest pipeline injection point – providing clean fuel for more than 1,600 vehicles per year. This project contributes to dairy industry decarbonization efforts by reducing approximately 5,880 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
Mead & Hunt’s in-house fabrication team custom manufactured the boiler/heat exchanger skid, which we then installed on-site. The boiler skid works to heat the manure digesters. The anaerobic digesters and the skids our team designed, fabricated, and constructed to treat dairy manure positively impact the environment and agriculture.
