Vance Air Force Base needed significant taxiway and runway repairs. Mead & Hunt provided a fast-track design for the reconstruction of the base’s outside Runway 17R/35L and Taxiway C, along with various repairs of Taxiway F and G. We developed pavement sections and other cost-saving measures to lower overall project costs.
In addition to reconstructing the existing ends and concrete overlay, placing new paved shoulders, and replacing the existing edge lighting system, our team provided a new concrete surface with a drainage layer and underdrain system. We also developed a phased construction schedule to minimize impacts to base operations. Our design received an “Exceptional” Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) rating.
