Runway 18/36 at the Dane County Regional Airport needed to construct a parallel taxiway to Runway 14/32 and reconfigure MSN airfield pavement. This serves to eliminate a “Hot Spot” identified by the FAA Office of Runway Safety to reduce the risk for runway incursions. Mead & Hunt was selected to design this $13.6 million project, which comprises a 4,600′ long, 75′ wide, 16″ thick concrete taxiway with 30′ wide asphalt shoulders, new edge lighting, creek relocation, and removing pavements that contribute to the nonstandard taxiway geometry. In addition, an Environmental Assessment was performed.
