Port Access Road Construction Inspection

To meet the port city of Charleston’s growing needs, South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) planned a new roadway and structure project spanning from a newly constructed port terminal to I-26. Mead & Hunt provided project management and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services. In addition to interstate and bridge work, construction included renovating interconnecting surface streets, drainage, sidewalks, curb and gutter, and traffic signals. We monitored and recorded utility relocations, revised traffic control plans, led weekly progress meetings, prepared and recorded as-built final plans for permanent records, and trained new inspectors on proper CEI techniques.
