Winona Bridge

Immediate repairs were needed to keep the historic Mississippi River Bridge, a vital link between Minnesota and Wisconsin, open to traffic. Work was completed on a fast-tracked schedule to construct a new structure and rehabilitate the existing bridge. We provided construction administration and inspection services throughout the duration of work on both structures.

We also provided guidance on the rehabilitation approach for the historic steel bridge. Built in 1942, the bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance as a main arterial route over a major river crossing and its contribution to design and engineering. The project was delivered using the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) method, a first for MnDOT.
