One of the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producers in the U.S. needed assistance constructing a landfill gas-to-RNG facility at a landfill in Tennessee. We provided construction management at-risk services for this landfill gas upgrading system, starting with bidding and subcontractor selection. The biogas upgrading system features pressure swing adsorption (PSA), which is a compact, energy-efficient, easy-to-operate technology. A new 13,000-square-foot (sf) masonry building houses the gas upgrading process equipment, and a 2,700-sf building contains the system controls. Each building has a full-adhered TPO membrane roof. We also managed the installation of process and electrical components, including off-loading, rigging, and setting of equipment, valves, and instrumentation. This facility processes 6,000 SCFM of landfill gas and generates 3,000 SCFM of pipeline-quality RNG.
