The City of Lake Mills, with a population of 5,000, found itself growing quickly due to its prime location along I-94 between Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our municipal planning specialist prepared zoning and land division codes, and created the new citywide zoning map. These crucial pieces form the blueprint for lasting improvements. A high level of public involvement and stakeholder engagement paved the way for this successful plan that combines high-quality commercial and mixed-use development with residential areas and recreational improvements.
This is one of the few remaining undeveloped state highway interchanges along I-94 in that area. The updated codes include new zoning districts, sustainability opportunities, architectural and site design guidelines, historic preservation, landscaping regulations and revised development and administrative procedures.
