One of the largest environmental solutions providers in the U.S. wanted to make beneficial reuse of the landfill gas at one of its Illinois landfills and needed construction support to build the landfill gas-to-RNG facility. We managed construction of the landfill gas upgrading system, starting with subcontractor solicitation and bidding. The system features a membrane pressure swing absorption (PSA) for biogas upgrading. A 10,000-square-foot masonry building with a fully adhered TPO membrane roof houses the gas upgrading equipment. The system processes 3,500 SCFM of landfill gas and produces 1,750 SCFM of renewable natural gas (RNG), which is injected into a natural gas pipeline. This project helped the environmental solutions provider achieve its goal of developing more efficient technologies and lowering its carbon footprint.
