When the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) decided to upgrade Carolina Bays Parkway, our transportation team performed construction inspections and project scheduling.
However, the project presented a unique challenge. The parkway falls under a US Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) permit that identifies dozens of wetlands. This permit required our team to inspect the wetlands three times per week. We approached this task using innovative methods for field inspections that allowed inspection data to be uploaded instantly from the field, which expedited any necessary transmittals to the USACE, Department of Health and Environmental Control and the SCDOT.
