This multi-story building consolidates the University’s campus safety and preparedness team, including police operations, electronic security, emergency communications, and management, in a single facility with 24/7 operations. The project introduces the campus’s first net zero energy building to achieve LEED Gold and LEED Zero Energy certifications.
Mead & Hunt is providing energy consulting, sustainability services, and commissioning services design to see that the project meets the intended sustainability and energy goals. These services will deliver a building that is optimized for efficiency, minimizing maintenance while enhancing occupant comfort.
The facility has sustainable and energy–efficient features such as high-performance walls and roofs, demand-controlled ventilation, and photovoltaic arrays on the rooftop and on the car port. The structure is designed to incorporate the campus’s central utility plant as the heat source, further reducing energy use.
