The renovated Babcock Hall creates additional space to include a production dairy plant, dairy research laboratories, small-batch production facilities, large freezers and coolers, food application laboratories, a large classroom/seminar space, offices, and support spaces.
Mead & Hunt served as the commissioning provider, and the team was engaged early in the project to provide design reviews of the process systems and develop a commissioning plan. Our scope of work included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) and building envelope commissioning services to see that the expansion maintained optimal performance in both the existing and the new spaces.
The team also commissioned complex dairy process equipment, requiring close integration with the project team and a unique approach to functional testing to certify that the equipment’s performance matched the facility’s needs.
