Putting people and communities first is at the heart of Mead & Hunt’s business. Now, the firm expands on that purpose by launching the Mead & Hunt Foundation.
As a public 501c3, the Mead & Hunt Foundation invests in the communities we live and work in by supporting non-profits that cultivate future Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) leaders, champion environmental stewardship, and care for the basic human needs of our neighbors. Its primary purpose will be to award grants annually to projects that meet the Foundation’s mission.
The Foundation was the vision of current Mead & Hunt Board Chair and former CEO, Andy Platz. He saw an opportunity to make a bigger impact by partnering with organizations that help address critical issues in our communities.
“Mead & Hunt has had a robust giving program that our employees enjoy and a history of taking care of communities as part of our values,” says Andy. “Establishing the Foundation seemed like a natural extension of our commitment. We’re building on a legacy dating back 126 years to our founder, Daniel Mead, and increasing our impact by inviting shareholders, employees, and the public to partner with us.”
The Foundation is run by a seven-person Board of Directors. At the helm as President is Cassie Coopman, an Enterprise Resilience Consultant in our Architecture & Building Engineering group. She has seven years of experience at the firm, a passion for leadership, and deep belief in taking care of people. Cassie is a strategic communicator and organizational leader with a multidisciplinary background spanning communications, marketing, business development, project management, risk management, and organizational strategic planning.
“I’ve always been driven by the opportunity to support people and help organizations grow, which is exactly what this Foundation represents,” says Cassie. “We’re excited to oversee the Foundation’s first grant cycle and begin building partnerships with organizations that are strengthening our communities. Our focus is on creating something that makes an impact for years to come.”
