Congratulations to Kyle Huebner, Mead & Hunt’s Fabrication Business Unit Leader within the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)/Renewable Energy group, for winning Innovator of the Year as part of The Daily Reporter’s 2024 Newsmakers of the Year Awards. The publication annually honors individuals who have made headlines throughout the year and excelled in their field.

With 14 years of experience, Kyle leads Mead & Hunt’s in-house fabrication and custom manufacturing team. The team develops prefabricated skids, structural components, process piping, and preassembled equipment for the renewable natural gas (RNG), manufacturing, power, natural gas, industrial, and wastewater markets. Kyle lays the groundwork for successful projects by working collaboratively with owners, engineers, and constructors to deliver results that significantly derisk projects. By focusing on meticulous planning and execution, Kyle enhances project safety, reduces construction timelines, and lowers costs. His aptitude for anticipating challenges and providing the most effective prefabrication solutions has earned him the trust and respect of clients and colleagues.

This year’s awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday, October 9, 5 – 8 p.m., at The Brookfield Conference Center.
Kyle spearheaded the development and fabrication of a skid-mounted digester system (pictured on the left) designed to heat two digesters for the award-winning energy project at Matsche Farms, in collaboration with DTE Vantage. This $21M anaerobic digester processes the waste of over 10,000 cows, converting it into biogas and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The resulting renewable natural gas (RNG) provides clean fuel for 1,600 cars annually.
Kyle contributed to replacing the wastewater treatment system by fabricating a custom anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) system that handles over 20,000 lbs/day of chemical oxygen demand (COD). Kyle led the design and fabrication of the skid for all major process systems, including an ultrafiltration (UF) membrane. The treatment system provides 32% more capacity, allowing the facility to achieve operational savings of over $500,000 annually.
Kyle fosters creativity and innovation by encouraging his team to think creatively. His commitment to his profession and to maintaining Mead & Hunt’s leadership in renewable energy underscores his strong work ethic.

Kyle’s outstanding contributions to the industry truly merit this award. Congratulations, Kyle, on your well-deserved achievement!
