We are happy to announce that Kevin Smith A.A.E., will join Mead & Hunt’s Aviation team as the Western Aviation Planning Market Leader. This move supports the firm’s vision and strategic growth goals for the Aviation Planning market as we expand in size and geographic reach.
Kevin has 26 years of comprehensive experience in the aviation industry and government leadership, including his most recent role as General Manager of the Truckee-Tahoe Airport District. This experience encompasses supervising day to day operations balanced with long-term strategic direction, and business development of airports, municipalities, and complex organizations. In addition, Kevin’s extensive background in Public Administration and in support of elected and appointed boards, councils, and commissions translate to a true understanding of every decision-maker’s perspective.
Kevin has won awards for outstanding achievement in public governance and in community development, experience that will prove instrumental in the development of airport master and strategic plans and the community involvement surrounding them. As an instrument-rated private pilot, Kevin adds the user perspective to his already comprehensive understanding of airports’ immediate and future needs.
Kevin’s experience maintaining the complex transportation infrastructure that serves communities and airports will lead to better outcomes for all aspects of airport development, particularly the environmental, land use planning, and public involvement efforts.
“Airports and the needs of the traveling public are dynamic and continually evolving,” he says. “Today’s airports demand new and innovative planning solutions. I look forward to leveraging my experience and background to effectively assist airports and communities with policy, regulatory, and strategy solutions to meet these new and future demands.” Kevin continues, “I am very excited to lead Mead & Hunt’s Aviation Planning practice as we seek to expand across the western US and beyond.”
Jon Faucher, Mead & Hunt’s Aviation Group Leader, echoes this sentiment, stating,
“We are very excited to welcome Kevin to our team. We look forward to putting his extensive airport management experience to good use as we help our clients create innovative, future-focused plans for their airports.”
