Employee Perspective: Curiosity Creates Opportunity

  • September 10, 2026
Q&A with Cassie Coopman along with photos of Cassie riding a horse, with her puppy and posing with her husband

Cassie Coopman hasn’t followed a traditional career path, and that’s what makes her story interesting. Since joining Mead & Hunt in 2018, she’s moved from marketing into business development, and now she works in enterprise resilience consulting while serving as President of the Mead & Hunt Foundation Board.

We asked Cassie about curiosity, career growth, and what inspires her to lead the Foundation.

Q&A with Cassie Coopman

Can you tell us why curiosity has been a driving force behind your success?

Every opportunity I’ve had started with a question that led to a conversation. Curiosity and a willingness to learn can open doors you didn’t even know existed.

Your career path has taken a few unexpected turns. How did you go from marketing to enterprise resilience consulting?

Starting out as a marketing coordinator, I had a front-row seat to how our teams deliver work and build relationships. Over time, I was drawn to strategy, business development, and organizational planning. Each role built on the last and eventually led me to enterprise resilience. In this role, I work directly with clients, helping them better secure their organization’s future. I also get to work alongside an amazing team here at Mead & Hunt.

What do you find exciting about the field of Enterprise Resilience?

What excites me most is that no two days look the same. I get to work at the intersection of strategy, people, and operations, helping organizations think through challenges before they happen and build confidence in how they’ll respond when they do. I also love the chance to collaborate more. It’s challenging work that lets me bring the best parts of my career experience to the table.

What’s a skill from your earlier career that you use in resilience consulting?

Storytelling. Even the best resiliency plan won’t work unless people understand it and feel connected to the value of being prepared to handle whatever challenges they might face. Helping people make sense of complex ideas and see their role in the bigger picture is one of my favorite aspects of what I do.

In addition to your consulting work, you serve as President of the Mead & Hunt Foundation Board. Why was this opportunity important to you?

Mead & Hunt has a strong culture of caring and community. The Foundation gives us an opportunity to support future STEAM leaders, advance environmental stewardship, and help meet basic human needs in the communities where we live and work.

This opportunity was important to me because it combined a cause I believe in with the chance to help build something meaningful from the ground up alongside an incredible team. It’s work I’ve never done before, but that’s part of what drew me to it. Like many opportunities in my career, it started with curiosity, asking questions, getting involved, and learning along the way. Helping turn an idea into an organization that can make a lasting difference in our communities has been incredibly fulfilling.
