We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Hunter Research, Inc., a respected cultural resource consulting firm headquartered in Trenton, New Jersey.
“Hunter Research brings deep expertise, trusted client relationships, and a strong regional presence that complements our cultural resources portfolio,” says Mead & Hunt CEO Amy Squitieri. “This acquisition is a natural fit for both organizations. Together we can offer expanded service to clients, create new opportunities for employees, and continue broadening the reach of our cultural resources practice while staying true to the values that define both firms.”
Founded in 1986, Hunter Research has spent four decades helping public and private clients in the federal, state, municipal, transportation, and infrastructure markets across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast tell the stories of the places that shape American history. The firm’s specialties span historical and archival research, prehistoric and historic archaeology, industrial archaeology, historic architectural survey, preservation planning, National Register nominations, and public outreach through interpretation.
Cultural Resources Business Unit Leader Christina Slattery is excited to bring the Hunter Research team on board. “We knew Hunter Research by reputation long before this opportunity came together. Their team is renowned for quality work and will expand our archaeology services,” Slattery says. “We also have a history of shared talent and professional connections, so there’s already a solid foundation of trust and respect between our organizations. They bring added strengths in interpretation, public exhibit signage, and hands-on education programs that bring history to life, which helps us connect communities to the places and stories that matter to them.”
Hunter Research brings a highly experienced team of historians, archaeologists, architectural historians, and GIS specialists who have a strong reputation for rigorous research. Founder Richard Hunter will continue to lead client and business development, giving the firm’s longtime clients continuity in both service and expertise as the two teams come together.
“Hunter Research has always believed that the historic artifacts of the past can make a vital contribution to everyday life. That purpose will continue with Mead & Hunt,” says Hunter, archaeologist and founder of Hunter Research. “Our clients will keep working with the people they know and trust, while our team gains broader resources and more opportunities to support communities across the country. We look forward to what we can accomplish together.”
The acquisition advances Mead & Hunt’s strategic vision to grow its geographic reach and enhance its cultural resources capabilities, further strengthening the firm’s ability to serve clients nationwide.
