This manure to RNG facility needed to connect biogas lines from existing digesters at three dairy farms to a central biogas treatment system, a system where biogas is injected into a natural pipeline to achieve renewable identification numbers (RINs) and low-carbon (LCFS) revenue for the farms. Our team installed a compressor and chiller package at each farm, including controls integration to a central upgrading facility, six miles of HDPE pipeline, a DMT Carborex® MS membrane and Sulfurex® BR system, and a gas compressor at the pipeline injection point. Balance of plant engineering was included for all utilities, including raw biogas, flare, power supply, natural gas, compressed air, internet, phone lines, drains, and water. At one of the farms, we performed on-site construction management for an upgraded wastewater treatment plant, which included design, programming, operation sequences, input/output checkout, system and instrument calibration, start-up, training, and operations assistance. The facility now prepares and transports biogas for injection into the natural gas pipeline.
