Alpena CRTC Repair Aircraft Parking Apron

This award-winning project included the design and Title II services for the removal and replacement of the 350-foot by 2,400-foot concrete apron A01B and A08B at Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC). The enhanced aircraft parking apron now has a useful life of 40 years. Mead & Hunt designed three concrete pavement sections and evaluated the life cycle cost to best meet design requirements while lowering the cost of maintenance. The project was split into two phases; each phase was designed so the apron could accommodate a minimum of six C-130J-30 aircraft throughout construction.
