We’re excited to share that our work with Anne Arundel County, Maryland has been awarded the 2024 TSMO Award for Traffic Signals from National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE). The NOCoE TSMO Awards celebrate the transportation systems management and operations strategies and tools that leverage existing infrastructure to increase safety and reliability.
Using Miovision’s Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs), Mead & Hunt retimed eight intersections along Riva Road that faced challenges due to changes in the Annapolis High School schedule and diverse land uses. Our goal was to optimize signal timings for the corridor to reduce congestion and improve the safety for all users, all within a short timeframe.
This project not only enhanced the stretch of road for drivers and pedestrians, but it also set a benchmark for future traffic signal optimization projects by demonstrating the potential of data-driven approaches in enhancing signal optimization. The successful implementation of Miovision’s ATSPMs has resulted in more efficient traffic management, reduced congestion, and a safer environment for all road users.
