Charles M Schulz – Sonoma County Airport (STS) has been steadily growing, with increased enplanement needs caused by increasing airlines and flights. To meet these needs, the airport required an expanded and modernized terminal area. Mead & Hunt led the schematic design, design development, and construction document phases of this 30,000 SF project.
During the initial project phase, our team designed a temporary hold room and security checkpoint to allow for continued airport operations during construction. The second phase includes construction of a new passenger hold room, security checkpoint, baggage claim, baggage handling system, rental car area and new circulation corridor. The existing bag claim/rental car area will be renovated for new airline ticket counters and an addition to the outbound baggage screening room. Other upgrades include fire alarm, fire suppression, mechanical, electrical systems, emergency generator, data, security and public address systems.
This well-integrated design and construction planning effort accommodates an unusually high number of airlines and stakeholders in a confined project area.
