Roseburg Regional Airport (RBG) faced several challenges. The surrounding terrain impacted accommodation for typical approaches. Existing corporate users wanted non-stop flights to their destinations. Our aviation planners, engineers and environmental specialists completed planning studies for a runway extension and a taxiway relocation, with particular attention to potential environmental impacts.
Our team evaluated emerging technologies that addressed instrumental approach procedures. In another study, we evaluated the runway extension feasibility, including road relocation and land acquisition. The city wanted to proceed and needed funding, so we helped the city successfully apply for a grant to cover costs. Following funding, our team carried out an environmental assessment that determined the potential environmental impacts. We applied the information from these evaluations in designing the taxiway and runway projects. From the first feasibility studies to the final design, our team worked closely with our client to secure a successful outcome.
