The original World War II-era runways at the Napa County Airport (APC) were ready for renovation. The project involved the rehabilitation of three separate runways at the airport.
The team worked closely with the County of Napa and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to find a cost-effective solution to the troublesome soils found throughout the site. Through careful coordination, the team was able to meet all FAA grading requirements, approach procedure development timelines, and bring the entire facility back online according to schedule. In addition, they worked to lessen negative impacts on the environmentally sensitive wetlands and critical habitat zones surrounding the site. Drone footage from the project site has been effectively used for outreach to the community and FAA.
Ultimately, our complex yet workable phasing plan, combined with seamless FAA coordination, minimized negative impacts for the airport. Working collaboratively, we were able to achieve a smooth and successful process for all involved.
