The West Virginia Division of Highways wanted to replace a bridge located within the diamond interchange that carries WV 105 over US 22. Our bridge and highway design engineers completed the structure design and contract plans for a 225-foot, two-span steel plate girder bridge. Integral abutments founded on steel bearing piles and a multi-column pier founded on a spread footing support the entire bridge. Phased construction eliminated the need for a detour, right-of-way acquisition and a potentially expensive archaeological evaluation.
The extensive lighting design called for replacing existing partial interchange lighting with full interchange lighting using high-mast towers. In the end, a new high-mast tower lighting system uses Holophane LED Luminaires with high-mast lighting poles and a luminaires table recording all of the necessary data for operation and maintenance.
