The WWOA (Wisconsin Wastewater Operators’ Association) works to maintain Wisconsin’s water quality by providing a forum, technology exchange, and education for trained professionals to operate wastewater treatment facilities efficiently and effectively. The WWOA’s annual conference is comprised of wastewater treatment professionals who serve municipalities and industries throughout the state of Wisconsin, including treatment plant operators, engineers, consultants, plant managers, equipment manufacturers, regulatory agencies, educators, and students involved in the wastewater treatment industry. This year, conference runs Tuesday, October 24 through Friday, October 27 in Baraboo, WI.
Over 100,000 Diffusers Across 28 Basins: The Milwaukee MSD South Shore WRF Aeration Upgrade Story

Jon Butt, PE, Project Manager, will present “Over 100,000 Diffusers Across 28 Basins: The Milwaukee MSD South Shore WRF Aeration Upgrade Story” at the 2023 WWOA Annual Conference. Alongside Jon, Lindsey Busch, PE, Project Manager of Carollo Engineers, will co-present. Stop into the Africa: 20 room on Wednesday, October 25 from 1 to 1:40pm to learn about how Mead & Hunt and Carollo Engineers worked with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to retrofit the aeration system at Milwaukee’s South Shore Water Reclamation Facility, whose existing diffusers reached the end of their useful life. During Jon and Lindsey’s presentation, they will discuss the process, design, and optimization of replacing all existing diffusers with new ones.
