One of the largest environmental solutions providers in the U.S. wanted to use the landfill gas at one of its Kentucky landfills to generate renewable natural gas (RNG) and needed construction support to build the landfill gas-to-RNG facility. Our team managed construction of the landfill gas upgrading system. The biogas upgrading system features membrane pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology, which is compact, energy efficient, and easy to operate. We also managed the installation of process and electrical components, including off-loading, rigging, and setting of Owner-supplied equipment, valves, and instrumentation. This system processes 5,000 SCFM of landfill gas and produces 2,500 SCFM of RNG, which is injected into a natural gas pipeline. This project helped the environmental solutions provider achieve its sustainability impact goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving its target for beneficial use of captured landfill gas.
