West Volusia Water Suppliers collaborated to comply with new regulations for water quality and water quantity in scenic Blue Spring. The new regulations dramatically affected water supply available for utilities and the management of wastewater treatment plant effluent.
In response, the water suppliers adopted a Minimum Flow Regime compliance strategy. Key strategic elements included using reclaimed water and other lower quality water sources to serve non-potable needs. Interconnecting the utilities’ reclaimed water distribution networks was essential.
This project consisted of the installation of 47,925 linear feet of new pipe, with diameters of up to 18 inches. It also provided about 8.0 mgd of reclaimed water transfer capacity. Our team obtained and administered two cost share grants for this project.
