Facility meets security forces operational needs

The Michigan Air National Guard sought a new security forces facility to eliminate operational and administrative overcrowding at the Selfridge Base. Our team provided a project book, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and an energy budget. The new facility holds offices, a base defense operation center, a detention center, classrooms, a fitness center and a small arms armory.

Our experience with military contract standards and guidelines led to a design in compliance with anti-terrorism / force protection standards. We also worked closely with the U.S. Green Building Council for Sustainable Design to combine the functions of two separate, aging facilities into one. Our architects intentionally planned exterior design to complement the Federal-style of the surrounding historic buildings while using the modern materials and design practices to achieve a look that will extend its design life.
