Officials, former employees make wish list for old prison

Preserve its history and show respect for those who lost their lives or spent much of their lives working there. That was the bottom-line message from current and former Iowa State Penitentiary employees Wednesday afternoon at a meeting with an architect and planner from Mead & Hunt and an official from Pioneer Group, Inc. about re-using the historic Fort Madison prison.
Mark Sauer, a transportation planner, and Stacey Keller, a senior project architect, both with Mead & Hunt, lead the discussion with current and former Iowa State Penitentiary employees about what they would like to see become of the old Fort Madison prison property.
