Great times at Great Lakes Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives Conference

Posted in: Aviation, Environmental

The Great Lakes Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives hosted its annual conference in the beautiful Black Hills of Rapid City, South Dakota, on July 25-28.

This conference was well attended by many Great Lakes regional airports each year, with delegates from airports as far east as Michigan and as far west as Nebraska attending. This year, Mead & Hunt was represented by Tim Callister, Mark Breukink and Paul Strege.

The professional agenda included timely industry topics such as airport strategic planning, development of minimum standards and Federal Aviation Administration regional initiatives. Other conference activities included a get-together in downtown Rapid City and a trip to Mount Rushmore for an evening lighting ceremony.

And last but not least, one of the activities that Mead & Hunt was proud to sponsor once again this year was a youth fishing derby. Nearly 80 children and grandchildren of conference attendees participated in the exciting one-hour fish-off. While winners were announced for most fish and largest fish, every child took home a prize, which is no wonder why the tournament was dubbed by one delegate as the “signature event” of the conference.
