Faucher recognized for role in promoting aviation industry
Jon Faucher was awarded the President’s Award at the Southwest American Association of Airport Executives summer conference in Sacramento. This is a new award, introduced last year, to recognize dedication to the organization, the southwest aviation community and the aviation industry.
Jon Stout, Airport Manager for the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, said he nominated Jon for this award because of his advocacy for airport issues such as funding and FAA regulations. He cited Jon’s support of membership drives, member involvement and hosting of the 2012 SWAAAE conference. Jon Faucher was also commended for his efforts to refine and improve the sponsorship program.
Jon Faucher credits his success to mentors like Mike Shutt. Mike was the owner of Shutt Moen, a company acquired by Mead & Hunt to become the anchor for our California aviation practice. As Vice President of Mead & Hunt, Mike helped guide Jon’s professional development.
Jon moved from Wisconsin to California in 2002 to lead the Santa Rosa office and grow our West Coast aviation presence. Since that time he was elected to Mead & Hunt’s Board of Directors, been promoted to Vice President, and is the Southwest Aviation’s Business Unit Leader.
During this period, with Mike’s urging, Jon joined and has been very active in SWAAAE. He was elected to the SWAAAE Board as Corporate Director in 2008 and held that position for six years. The award this summer was in part to recognize his dedication to the organization and his involvement in the sponsorship program. It is estimated that Jon helped raise more than $1 million in sponsorships.
This is not Jon’s first award from SWAAAE. In 2014, Jon won the Award of Distinction recognizing those who have served the association and promoted aviation with uncommon dedication.
SWAAE award program dates back to 1953 with introduction of Airport Executive of the Year. Since that time Mead & Hunt won the Corporate Excellence Award in 2005 and again in 2015. The Corporate Award of Excellence is presented to a company whose professionalism and recent contributions to the association and the airport industry have made a significant difference in fostering aviation.
It’s a great honor. Congratulations Jon.
